Stoughton Health Partners with AHEC Intern Program

Jun 19, 2024 | News & Notes

Hannah Mei Hippe

Stoughton Health is pleased to announce its partnership with the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) intern program to host a summer intern for the eighth year in a row. The AHEC intern program is renowned for its commitment to preparing students for careers in health professions by providing them with immersive, practical experiences. Interns are selected through a competitive process and placed in various local healthcare settings where they can apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges.

Stoughton Health is hosting Hannah Mei Hippe, a senior at the University of Wisconsin Madison studying Health Promotion, Health Equity and Global Health. During Hannah Mei’s eight weeks with Stoughton Health, she has a wide range of responsibilities. She is actively engaged in the Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) process and the development of an Implementation Plan aimed at identifying and addressing the health needs specifically for our local population. This involves attending coalition meetings, promoting community education classes, and enhancing partnerships to ensure that the identified health needs are met effectively. Her skills are being applied to a wide variety of public relations special projects as well.

In addition, Hannah Mei will shadow professionals in the hospital’s social work department as well as shadow staff in Stoughton’s Neighborhood Free Health Clinic to gain firsthand experience of the challenges faced by underserved populations. Through these diverse assignments and activities, she is playing a crucial role in bridging the gap between community health needs and the resources required to address them effectively.
