Providing Services from Early Detection to Post-Surgical Care

General Surgeon Dr. Aaron Schwaab and his team have developed a comprehensive Breast Care Program allowing women to receive breast care services close to home.

Breast Cancer Risk Assessment

Stoughton Health’s Breast Cancer Risk Assessment can help you understand your personal breast cancer risk and strategies to reduce your risk. The screening is a free service we offer to help women take charge of their health. Our Breast Cancer Risk Assessment is recommended for all women over the age of twenty-five.

When you schedule your free assessment at Stoughton Health, you will meet with our Breast Cancer Risk Assessment Screener in-person or on the phone. She will ask you questions about your medical and family history. Our medical screening tool will assess your breast cancer risk and you will receive the results during your assessment.

If you are at high risk for breast cancer, you will be scheduled for a follow-up consultation with Stoughton Health Board Certified General Surgeon Dr. Aaron Schwaab to learn more about your results and how to reduce your risk. Dr. Schwaab will guide you through your options so you can take charge of your health.

To schedule your Breast Cancer Risk Assessment, please call (608) 873-2332.

Breast Biopsy

Based on the results of your last mammogram and/or ultrasound, a radiologist may recommended an area of your breast be biopsied in order to obtain further information. This can be accomplished through one of three different techniques. Some abnormalities in the breast are only visualized in one technique and the radiologist will choose the one that will provide the best visualization.

  • Stereotactic core biopsy
  • Ultrasound guided core biopsy
  • Wire-free localization

Lymphedema Monitoring & Treatment

Lymphedema is swelling caused by an excess of lymph fluid and is common after breast surgery. Prior to surgery, Dr. Schwaab uses state of the art SOZO body composition analysis technology to provide a baseline assessment for lymphedema. The same technology is used to monitor for lymphedema in the postoperative period so therapy can be initiated if needed.

Patients with lymphedema are referred to one of our Certified Lymphedema Therapists. To learn more about our Certified Lymphedema Therapists and how physical therapy can benefit lymphedema, please click here.
