STOUGHTON, Wis. — On October 6th, Stoughton Health and the Stoughton Wellness Coalition partnered with Stoughton High School to host “Paint It Pink Night” across multiple athletic events, including the Vikings’ volleyball game, soccer match, and swim meet, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Representatives from Stoughton Health Medical Imaging, the Stoughton Wellness Coalition, and the wellness coalition’s teen club, The Student Action Committee were on hand to distribute pink t-shirts and rally towels to spectators while providing vital health education on early detection.
In addition to raising awareness for breast cancer prevention, the members shared educational materials on key risk factors, early detection, and the link between alcohol consumption and an increased risk of breast cancer. By sharing these evidence-based facts, the coalition aimed to empower young people to make informed, healthy choices and abstain from alcohol use.
“Events like Paint It Pink Night allow us to combine community spirit with critical health education,” said Adam Peters, Stoughton Wellness Coalition Project Coordinator. “Informing our youth about risk factors early on gives them powerful reasons to choose substance-free, healthy lifestyles.”
