Stoughton Health Presents First DAISY Award

May 20, 2024 | News & Notes

Nurse Nominees: Kim, Allison, Scott and Jennifer

This spring Stoughton Health launched the DAISY Award and received several nominations. The DAISY (Diseases Attacking the Immune System) Award is an international recognition program that honors and celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide every day. The DAISY Foundation was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say “thank you” to nurses in a very public way.

We were proud to present our nurse Allison Downs with the first DAISY Award. “She was compassionate and gentle in her approach. We definitely felt love in her care. She was a very good communicator and let us know each step she was taking so we understood what was coming next,” wrote the patient’s family. Congratulations Allison!
