Stoughton Health hosted a press conference on November 4 to highlight the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the hospital’s efforts to help local residents access affordable, comprehensive health coverage. The event was attended by community members and representatives from state and local organizations.

Bev Pope, Certified Application Counselor at Stoughton Health since 2013, provides free, one-on-one assistance to help individuals and families choose insurance plans that best meet their needs.

Since the ACA took effect, the number of uninsured Wisconsinites has dropped by about 200,000, and last year a record 313,579 Wisconsinites gained coverage through the ACA marketplace. Nationwide, the uninsured rate has fallen to a record low of 7.7%.

Open Enrollment runs through January 15, with coverage starting January 1 for those who sign up by December 15.
