Stoughton Health Enhances Safety for Local Crossing Guards with LED Stop Paddles

Jan 8, 2025 | News & Notes, Stoughton News

Chris Brabant, President and CEO of Stoughton Health, presents Ana Urbina, a local crossing guard, with new and improved stop signs.

Stoughton Health is proud to announce the donation of upgraded 18-inch LED stop paddles to local crossing guards, replacing their previous 12-inch signs. Crossing guards play a critical role in ensuring the safety of both children and adults at busy intersections, including two major highways and two school-adjacent locations with heavy traffic flow in Stoughton. These larger, LED-equipped paddles significantly improve visibility, ensuring that guards remain highly noticeable to drivers and commuters, even during low light or adverse weather conditions.

Chris Brabant, President and CEO of Stoughton Health, emphasized the organization’s commitment to community well-being. “At Stoughton Health, we are dedicated to keeping our community safe. These new LED stop paddles ensure that our crossing guards have the tools they need to do their vital work, protecting both themselves and the children they assist.” LED stop paddles are especially effective during dawn, dusk, and bad weather—times when accidents are most likely to occur. This donation is one of many efforts from Stoughton Health to improve the health and well-being our community. Last year, Stoughton Health contributed $4,490,874 worth of community benefits and charity care.
