Stoughton Hospital achieved top performer status through CheckPoint, a voluntary hospital quality reporting initiative, in the areas of infections, mortality-conditions, patient experience, patient safety-all patients and patient safety-patients with surgery. Achieving top performer status means a hospital is in the top 10% for a specific measure.
In 2004, the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA) launched CheckPoint which was the first statewide, voluntary hospital quality reporting initiative in the country. It is designed to meet the demand for information on the quality of care provided by community hospitals.
CheckPoint encompasses over 45 quality and safety measures publicly available for providers, employers, and consumers. All acute care and critical access hospitals in the state report on measures relevant to their patient populations. By sharing information, Wisconsin hospitals can benchmark their progress against other hospitals in the state and share best practices.
“We are proud to be recognized in these five quality and safety measures. Providing safe, quality healthcare is part of Stoughton Health’s mission and we take it very seriously,” shares Dan DeGroot Stoughton Health’s President/CEO.
