Clean Slate: Assisting Community Members with Alcohol and Opioid Use Disorders

Aug 26, 2024 | Your Health

Alcohol and opioid use disorders can have a devastating effect on individuals and their loved ones. Fortunately, there are resources available to help. Clean Slate is one such option—an outpatient addiction treatment center that utilizes medicated-assisted treatment to treat opioid or alcohol use disorders.

Danielle Wegman, Community Relations Liaison, offers information about Clean Slate and its efforts in the community.

Services Offered at Clean Slate

Each patient is unique in their needs, and Clean Slate has a number of different medications that can help meet those needs. Wegman mentions name brand options such as SUBLOCADE, SUBOXONE, VIVITROL, and BRIXADI.

Clean Slate also provides hepatitis C testing and treatments and HIV testing, as well as access to resources to help support patients’ recovery efforts. Some of the centers in the state even have in-house counseling for both individual and group therapy. Perhaps most importantly, the center offers a safe and welcoming environment.

“Individuals can expect to be welcomed with open arms. We have such incredible staff, from the person who greets you at the front desk, to the center managers, to the providers. Everyone is working together to make sure our patients feel comfortable and get the treatment they deserve and that will help them to recover,” shares Wegman.

Hours, Insurance, and Contact Information

Clean Slate is open Monday through Friday and holds late-night clinic hours for those who may suddenly realize it’s time they are ready for help. Anyone can walk in to the center without an appointment.

“When someone makes that decision to start recovery, we really need to be as accessible as possible for our community members. Not having that waiting list allows for that to happen sooner rather than later. We can get someone scheduled that day,” assures Wegman.

The center accepts all insurances valid in the state of Wisconsin, including Medicaid. If an individual is uninsured, self-pay options also exist. It’s imperative that anyone who wants help can get it—and get it quickly.

“Addiction is a disease that does not discriminate based on gender or economics or race. It affects every single person in our community. But, you are not alone. We do not judge you here at Clean Slate. I know it is very stigmatized, but it’s something we want people to feel comfortable acknowledging in the community, so healing can start happening and recovery can start happening. We want you to be healthy and happy and thriving,” urges Wegman. “We can definitely work together as a community to make sure we reduce and hopefully one day eliminate overdoses.”
