Tina DeGroot, PhD, APRN

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists selected Tina DeGroot, PhD, APRN to receive the Preceptor of the Year Award. The award nationally recognizes a NACNS member for outstanding professional achievement as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Preceptor. The award acknowledges a CNS preceptor who has demonstrated commitment to teach, coach, and mentor CNS students and/or CNSs new to the role; to achieve CNS competencies in the nurse, patient, and organizational spheres as reflected in the NACNS Statement on CNS Practice and Education (3rd Edition).

“Tina’s clinical excellence, mentorship, and advocacy are exemplary, and we are so pleased to have her recognized with the prestigious award,” shares Stoughton Health’s President/CEO Chris Brabant.

DeGroot has been a preceptor for registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, and medical students for over 30 years in various settings, such as acute care and outpatient clinics, including free and charitable clinics serving rural communities.

DeGroot was nominated by Jonathan Milton, MSN, APNP whom she works with in Stoughton Health’s Cardiology Clinic. Milton says, “Tina fosters a positive learning environment where CNS students and new graduates feel comfortable expressing their ideas and questions.”

The Annual Preceptor of the Year Award will be presented during the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists 2025 Annual Conference in March.
